Damon Brown

Friday 26 October, 7.30pm

Damon Brown trumpet, Leon Greening keyboard, Adam King double bass, Matt Skelton drums

Trumpet and flugelhorn supremo Damon Brown has been described by Jack Massarik, jazz critic of the London Evening Standard, as ‘one of the world’s finest players’, and richly deserves the praise. He has played and recorded with many leading pop and jazz artists, and recently has been concentrating on leading jazz quartets and quintets as vehicles for his arresting, mainly hard-bop compositions and solos, and touring with legendary US tenor sax player Steve Grossman. He has toured widely with own quintet at clubs in Europe and Far East, as well as every year at Ronnie Scott's. For this gig Damon is supported by the superb, swinging Leon Greening on piano, Adam King, one of the most promising bassists of his generation, and Matt Skelton, whose regular drumming appearances include playing with the Halle and BBC Concert Orchestras and the John Wilson Orchestra.

‘A supremely fluent soloist … producing an astonishing variety of sounds and styles.’ Ian Mann
