The third instalment of the Elias String Quartet’s Beethoven quartet cycle.

Each programme juxtaposes quartets drawn from Beethoven’s ‘early’, ‘middle’ and ‘late’ periods, giving us the chance to marvel at the way Beethoven developed and indeed championed this musical medium. Witness Beethoven’s compositional journey he takes his cue from Haydn and Mozart, finds his own vibrant voice which sparked the Romantic musical revolution, before reaching his final experimental and transcendental “late” period producing works that still shock, amaze and astound in the 21st century. Join us next season for the final three programmes in the cycle.
